Zanzibar Library Services Board (ZLSB) is an educational institution under the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training Zanzibar, established under Act No. 7 of 1993 of the Zanzibar Parliament.
The Board is responsible for promoting, establishing, managing, maintaining and developing libraries throughout the Island. With its Head Office located at Maisara, Unguja, and the Pemba Office at Chachani, Chake Chake, ZLSB serves every corner of the archipelago.
Two additional small branches operate at Wete in Benjamini Mkapa Building and at Wingwi in the Alternative Education Building — ensuring that library services reach even the most distant communities.
As all citizens have the right of accessing library services — whether children, youths or adults — ZLSB maintains library materials of different types to meet the diverse needs of its clients. The happiness of the Board is to see its services well known by all citizens in and out of the country.
To promote, establish, manage, maintain and develop libraries throughout Zanzibar, providing equitable access to knowledge and information for all citizens.
